David's
most recent film, Wake Wood, which he directed and co-wrote with producer Brendan McCarthy, opened in
Ireland, the UK and the US in 2011 with a gala screening in the Jameson Dublin International
Film Festival on February 22nd.
Born in Dublin, David studied drama in Paris at the Ecole de
Mimodrame and played in the rock band The Shade.
His
feature length documentary, km64, tells the
story of how the world's most extreme skate park came to be built in the desert
of Baja California Sur. (Contact David to get yourself a copy) It's a lesson in improvisation from beginning to end.
He
wrote and directed the feature film THE LAST OF THE HIGH
KINGS (Miramax), which starred Jared Leto, Gabriel Byrne and Christina Ricci,
for which he received a nomination for Best Newcomer in the Evening Standard
Film Awards.
David
has also directed documentaries commercials, TV drama and music videos.
His
screenwriting includes “H” for Columbia pictures, and an Additional Writing
credit for his work on Jim Sheridan’s script of INTO THE WEST (Miramax).
Theatre
directing credits include; Entertaining Mr Sloane, by Joe Orton at Andrews Lane
Theatre. June 2000. Below the Belt by Richard Dresser also at Andrews Lane and
in the 2001 Dublin Fringe Festival, "Never Look in the Mirror When You're

David
is the Irish representative of Equinoxe, the Paris based screenwriters workshop.
Co-operating
with Trinity College Dublin, David has developed digital narrative workshops,
which use mobile phone technology, for schools
and business. He has delivered these in Ireland, Belgium and South Africa.
